Why do I need to wash my hands?

Washing your hands is the best way to stop germs from spreading. Think about all of the things that you touched today

So when are the best times to wash your hands?

  • Before eating or touching food (like if you're helping cook or bake, for example)
  • After using the bathroom
  • After blowing your nose or coughing
  • After touching pets or other animals
  • After playing outside
  • Before and after visiting a sick relative or friend

How to Wash your Hands

1. Use tablet or liquid soap and rub onto your palms.
2. Rub your palms together working up a lather.
3. Slip your fingers between each other and rub together making sure you rub to the bottom of your fingers.
4. Wash the back of the fingers and hands by clasping them together.
5. Wash your fingertips of each hand by rubbing them in your palms.
6. Don’t forget your nails too!
7. Rub each finger in turn, concentrating on the fore fingers and thumb.
8. Dry your hands well with a clean towel.
